Steps to set up

  1. Add triggers in Configure > Hosts > (host name) > Triggers

  2. Create an action in Configuration > Actions > Trigger Actions with "Send message to users" enabled in Operations

In Reports > Action log i saw the alert was failing:

Everyone who wants to receive emails from Zabbix needs to add their email address in User settings > Profile > Media.

Now it is clear the mail sending is not configured properly on Zabbix
